Health and Safety Training
Charter's experienced employees are cross-trained in safety standard operating procedures over a wide range of civil and environmental services. This unique capability under one roof sets Charter apart from the rest of the industry, and genuinely provides for the safe, efficient and cost effective execution of work.
Charter employees have current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and are also cross-trained in asbestos and lead safety training. Charter conducts one-on-one company-specific training during our safety orientation for new employees and we conduct site-specific training as part of each project. All training undertaken by employees as well as their medical qualifications are documented and tracked by our Corporate Health & Safety Director. All health and safety training requirements are stored in a database, allowing us to proactively manage our training program and provide for prompt reminders of annual refresher training needs.

Charter assures its employees are aware of current trends and policies regarding health and safety within the industry. Each month, a selected topic or specialized awareness training is taught to Charter employees. Recent topics included awareness training in fall protection, Skidsteer Loader (Bobcat) operation, scaffolding and trenching. Charter also provides the opportunity for all of its Health and Safety Program training be conducted in Spanish for its bilingual employees.
Safety Awards
In 2004 and 2005, Charter was recognized for its outstanding safety record through the AGC of Massachusetts Safety Merit Award.
